1981 Doughdish

PIXIE is a professionally maintained 16’ Doughdish, a great example of the fiberglass version of the Herreshoff 12 ½ design from 1914. PIXIE comes with a 2022 “float-on” trailer, which enables the boat to be launched from most boat ramps, alleviating the need for a boatyard or hoist. Another highlight is her lightly-used suite of sails, and she comes ready to race, with upgrades including a spinnaker pole and swivel cam cleats. Her brightwork was recently redone by Concordia Company.

Doughdishes are constructed of foam sandwich fiberglass with teak trim. They are built with the exact dimensions, weight, balance and rig of the original sloops designed by N. G. Herreshoff. As part of the H Class, Doughdishes compete directly against wooden Herreshoff 12 1/2’s in one-design class racing and regattas, and the class is thriving and healthy in 2026.

PIXIE was sailed for most of her years in Menemsha Pond on Martha’s Vineyard and is currently on her trailer in Dartmouth, MA. To schedule a showing, please contact Will Ricketson using the information below.
