Concordia 39 No. 100, CAPTIVA

CAPTIVA is one of the final Concordia Yawls built by the venerable Abeking and Rasmussen shipyard in Lemwerder, Germany, to an American design by C. Raymond Hunt and Waldo Howland. No. 100 of the 103-boat class, CAPTIVA represents not only the culmination of an unprecedented postwar production run, but also decades of careful ownership by only two families since her launch.

In recent years, CAPTIVA has greatly benefitted from a comprehensive 2019-2021 refit by Rockport Marine that included:

  • 2003 25hp Yanmar diesel - removed, serviced, reinstalled

  • Frames - Scarfed in 27 frame repairs with laminated white American oak

  • Fasteners - refastened frames

  • Floor timbers - 2 new purple heart floor timbers

  • Engine beds - new purple heart engine bed

  • Cockpit drains and through hulls - New brass units installed (port & starboard)

  • Hoses - Installed top-quality ventilated loop hosing throughout

  • Bilge pumps - Installed two new bilge pumps, a 800 gph “every day” pump in the deepest part of the bilge, and a Rule 3700 gph 13-amp pump forward of the engine for biggest jobs. New bilge pump switch.

  • Batteries - 2 new 13.5 V Trojan batteries

  • Drive-line parts serviced

  • Cutlass bearing serviced

  • Shaft coupling serviced

  • Stern tube serviced

  • Shaft coupling replaced (with key properly inserted)

  • Right hand prop serviced

  • Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors installed

  • Antenna wiring serviced

  • AIS installed (Class B transponder and receiver)

  • DSC system installed and obtained MMSI number

  • New radar reflector installed; VHF, AIS and GPS antennas installed

  • 5 New fenders and New England 5/8th inch dock lines acquired

  • New lifelines and 2 gates installed

  • Structural inspections:

    • Keel bolts inspected

    • Planking inspected

    • Keel and keelson inspected

  • New Garmin 12-inch GPSMAP 8600 Chartplotter and radar, with wind instruments sailpack installed

  • Mast head fly installed (mast-head windex)

  • Major refinishing: Varnished trim taken down to bare wood and built back up in these areas:

    • Cockpit walls, Coamings, Cabin House, Hand Rails, Toe Rails, Hatch Covers

  • Stored indoors and professionally maintained annually
