DIABLO, No. 95

DIABLO

Concordia Yawl #95 (41'0"). Built in 1963 by Abeking and Rasmussen (#5977).

Current Status:

  • Awaiting Restoration - Owned by Concordia Company.

DIABLO is one of the final Concordia yawls ever built, and also one of the very rare 41’s. Misfortune found her several year ago, and led to her being haphazardly disassembled by non-boatbuilders, neglected and damaged.

Nevertheless, Concordia Company’s Brodie MacGregor, and Yawl owner Rusty Aertsen (of STREAMER, SNOWBIRD & KESTREL), could not stand by and watch her disappear.

DIABLO was purchased at a government auction by Concordia and moved to South Dartmouth, where she currently awaits a savior. We have removed and stored many of her fittings and equipment as we work to find her next caretaker.

As a 41, she has significantly greater interior volume than most Concordia Yawls, and correspondingly is an outstanding restoration candidate. While Concordia Company has all the necessary personnel, facilities and experience to bring DIABLO back to life, we would be happy to see her in the hands of any experienced yard. What’s important is that she is saved.

Give us a call anytime, and hear her story. We know it’s not over yet.

Price: Free, assuming there is an actionable restoration plan.
